Agri-Food Immigration Pilot
The Agri-Food Immigration Pilot was designed to help employers in Canada’s agri-food sector to hire and retain temporary foreign workers by facilitating their permanent residence to Canada.
Eligibility Criteria
You must meet all of these requirements:
12 months of full-time, non-seasonal Canadian work experience in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, in an eligible occupation in processing meat products, raising livestock, or growing mushrooms or greenhouse crops
A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 in English or French
A Canadian high school diploma or foreign equivalent. You’ll need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a recognized organization to show your credential is valid and equal to a Canadian credential if you completed high school outside of Canada.
A job offer for full-time, non-seasonal, permanent work in Canada in an eligible occupation/industry within the agri-food sector
Eligible industries and occupations
The eligible industries are:
meat product manufacturing
greenhouse, nursery and floriculture production, including mushroom production
animal production, excluding aquaculture
The eligible occupations for each eligible industry are:
For meat product manufacturing:
retail butchers (NOC B 6331)
industrial butchers (NOC C 9462)
farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers (NOC B 8252)
food processing labourers (NOC D 9617)
For greenhouse, nursery and floriculture production, including mushroom production:
farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers (NOC B 8252)
general farm workers (NOC C 8431)
harvesting labourers (NOC D 8611)
For animal production, excluding aquaculture:
farm supervisors and specialized livestock workers (NOC B 8252)
general farm workers (NOC C 8431)
Application Process
Job Offer: An employer makes a full-time job offer to someone who is suitable for the job and meets the program requirements.
Permaenent Residence Application: If you have a qualifying job offer and meet the other program requirements you can apply to be a permanent resident of Canada. Additional details on how individuals may apply for permanent residence through this pilot will be available in March 2020.

Submission letter: An RCIC will prepare and submit a submission letter on behalf of the applicant along with the application. The submission letter is an important part of the application which summarizes and more importantly demonstrates why you meet the requirements of the visa.
