Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI NP) offers you a way to immigrate to Canada. Through the PEI PNP, PEI:
Invites residency applications from non-Canadians who want to make PEI their home; and
Nominates successful applicants to the federal government, so they can gain permanent residency in Canada
The PEI PNP offers five streams for skilled and semi-skilled workers who want to become a permanent residents of Prince Edward Island. The five streams are the Critical Workers Stream, International Graduates Stream, PEI Express Entry Stream, Skilled Workers in PEI Stream and the Skilled Workers Outside Canada Stream.
Critical Workers Stream
To be eligible for this stream an applicant must:
Have a full-time long-term job offer from a PEI employer in a low skill occupation ( NOC C skilled level C or D)
Have worked a minimum of six months full-time for the PEI employer
Have a valid work permit
Possess a minimum education of secondary school
Be between the ages of 18 and 59
Have at least two years of full-time work experience or relevant education in the past five years
Provide a language test from an IRCC approved testing institute within the past two years with a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 4
International Graduates Stream
To be eligible for this stream an applicant must:
Have a full-time long-term job offer from an employer in PEI
Have a valid post-graduate work permit
Have successfully completed a degree or diploma from a publicly-funded PEI college or university
Be between the ages of 18 and 59
Possess sufficient English and/or French language ability to perform the job offered
PEI Express Entry Stream
To be eligible for this stream an applicant must:
Have a valid express entry profile
Demonstrate a connection to the province through a job offer from an employer in PEI or another tie to the province such as previous work or study in PEI
Skilled Workers in PEI Stream
To be eligible for this stream an applicant must:
Have a full-time long-term job offer from a PEI employer in a skilled occupation ( NOC skill level O, A or B).
Have a valid work permit.
Have successfully completed at a minimum a two year post-secondary diploma or degree program ( college or university).
Be between the ages of 18 and 59.
Have at least two years of full-time work experience in the past five years.
Possess sufficient English and French language ability to perform the job offered. Language ability can be verified by providing a language test from an IRCC approved testing institute with a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 4 or an employer signed PEI PNP-L06 Employer Language Declaration.
Skilled Workers Outside Canada Stream
Have a full-time long-term job offer from a PEI employer in a skilled occupation ( NOC skill level O, A or B). The job offer was be approved by the PEI PNP office prior to application.
Have successfully completed at a minimum a two year post-secondary diploma or degree program ( college or university).
Be between the ages of 18 and 59.
Have at least two years of full-time work experience in the past five years.
Possess sufficient English and French language ability to perform the job offered. Language ability can be verified by providing a language test from an IRCC approved testing institute with a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 4or an employer signed PEI PNP-L06 Employer Language Declaration.
PEI PNP Application Process
A broad overview of the process to apply to the PEI PNP is below.
Stage 1: Registration
The first step is to create a profile in the Prince Edward Island Express of Interest System.
Stage 2: Invitation
Periodically, the PEI Office of Immigration issues invitations to apply (ITA’s) to qualified applicants.
Stage 3: Application
If you are invited to apply, you must submit a paper application to the Office of Immigration
Stage 4: Nomination
If your application is approved you will receive a confirmation of nomination as a provincial nominee from the PEI PNP
Stage 5: Permanent Residence
After receiving a PEI PNP confirmation of nomination, you must submit an application for permanent residence.
PEI PNP Application Processing Times and Fees
Currently, the average PEI PNP processing time for all streams is 90 -120 days
The PEI PNP charges an application fee of $300 at the time of application for nomination. There is no fee to submit an express of interest
Immigration Refugee Citizenship Canada (IRCC) Fees and Processing Times
Main Applicant-Processing fee $825 and right of permanent residence fee $500
Spouse or Partner-Processing fee $820 and right of permanent residence fee $500
Each Dependent Child- Processing Fee of $225
The processing time for an applicant with an Express Entry profile and who has applied to a provincial Express Entry stream is 6 months. The processing time for all other applicants is approximately 18 months.
Proof of Funds
You must show that you have sufficient funds to successfully establish yourself and your family in Canada and to pay your immigration costs and travel expenses (if applicable) at the time of your application for permanent residency to IRCC (as well as at Express Entry profile submission stage). The amount of money you need to s determined by the size of your family, as shown below.

The funds must be in your name or in the name of your accompanying spouse. These funds must be unencumbered by debts or obligations transferable and available to you. Funds must be liquid (i.e. not real estate) and cannot be borrowed. You normally do not have to show that you have these funds if:
You have a valid job offer (offer of arranged employment) in AND
You are currently working or authorized to work in Canada
